Here is a Picture I took of the Moon through the eyepice.
It was pretty simple. I just took our digital camera and set it against the eyepice and took the pic.
The hard part was getting it centered.

I am learning that I REALLY don’t care for the 9 x 50 finder scope.
It is very awkward to use at it’s best and down right impossible the rest of the time.
When I do get a view through it I really can’t make out where I am looking, I see more stars thru the finder than I do with the naked eye.

I did me a bit of research and decided that I would try out the Telrad finder.
So I ordered 1

As you can see it fits nicely between the 2″ focuser and the 9 x 50 finder scope. I have not used the 9 x 50 finder scope since I put the Telrad on. I really REALLY like the Telrad it just seems natural to use.
And best of all, there are a lot of charts out there that use the Telrad concentric rings.

DeepSky Does use the Telrad rings on it charts.

Very Sweet

First Light

Well, last night I got to take the new scope out.
Man what a night, have you ever had one of those nights that you just got into the ZONE ?
I played around in Sagittarius and Scorpius.
I have a pretty dark site that I go to. It’s just a couple of miles out of town.
I bagged
M8 (NGC 6523), the Lagoon Nebula
M17 (NGC 6618), the Omega, Swan, or Horseshoe Nebula
M20 (NGC 6514), The Trifid Nebula
M22 (NGC 6656)
M23 (NGC 6494)
M24 (NGC 6603)
M25 (IC 4725)
M55 (NGC 6809)
NGC 6520
In Scorpius
M 4 (NGC 6121)
M 6 (NGC 6405) the Butterfly Cluster
M 7 (NGC 6475)
M 80 (NGC 6093)
NGC 6231

It was just one of those GRAND NIGHTS !

New Scope

We just got back from Anttlers Optics (Now Out Of Business)
With a new CELESTRON 10 inch Dobsonian.
Man is this thing HUGE.
While it is a BIG scope it is not hard to manage at all.
It just take 1 more trip then it did with the Mead DS-2130AT

Now this is a REAL scope —
I can’t wait till I get first light with it!

The telescope in the background is my Mead DS-2130AT.

The Start

We went to a liquidation place and they had a Mead DS-2130AT for a song and a dance.
I have always wanted a REAL scope and I just could not pass on this deal.
It a 5 inch Newtonian Reflector Telescope. It has GOTO that I though was pretty cool.

The Kid

It all started when I was a kid, I just loved the night sky.
There was a planetarium at the nearby collage.
They ran a 12 week class on the universe.
I lost count of the times I went to see it,
it was more then 5 times!
I still love planetariums
